In Tuscany thera are seven sites protected by Unesco and some of them are very close to Monteriggioni.
Among the largest cities we mention Siena (20 km) and Florence (50 km) that are considered open-air museums, as well as Miracles Square and the famous Leaning Tower of Pisa (100 km).
But also San Gimignano (25 km) with its medieval towers, the Val d'Orcia (40 km) with its amazing landscapes and Pienza (85 km) the ideal city are part of the Unesco
With a short walk you can each Monteriggioni (1.5 km) the small medieval town characterized by its walls, mentioned by Dante Alighieri in the Divine Comedy.  A walk along the walls and you admire the beauty of the Tuscan countryside. Then, in Monteriggioni, but outside the city walls and exactly in the village of Abbadia Isola (3.5 km) you will find a splendid example of Romanesque church with three naves and three apses whose origins date back to 1001.
Colle di Val d'Elsa (10 km) there is a 10-minute drive. Parking is in the lower part of town and a lift leading to the top. Here you will find the beautiful old town not spoiled yet by mass tourism.
Another road that you cannot miss is the Chianti Hills tour. The main places to visit are Castellina in Chianti (15 km) Radda in Chianti (25 km) and Greve in Chianti (34 km), but only the view on the hills covered with vineyards justify the hike, as well as many churches and castles scattered in the territory.
We also report Volterra (38 km) the city of Etruscan origins and the Abbey of San Galgano (39 km) which also tells the legend of the sword in the rock.
If you have planned a trip to Pienza, we suggest you to stretch as far as Montepulciano (78 km), which boasts a highly developed city center, rich in history and famous for the several cellars of Nobile di Montepulciano wine.
Also in the territory of Siena we suggest a stop in Montalcino (55 km), home of the famous Brunello wine.
A town to be visited is  Arezzo (88 km) where you can see Piero della Francesca's frescoes and Cortona (88 km) hilly village overlooking Lake Trasimeno.
Another very pleasant town located at short distance from Pisa is Lucca (100 km) with a very extensive historic center and surrounded by beautiful walls.
And for a very relaxing  day we recommend a bath in the hot  thermal waters of Rapolano Terme (45 km).
